Yasmin contains ethinylestradiol and drospirenone as active ingredients. The former ingredient is the synthetic version of oestrogen while the latter is the synthetic version of progesterone. The medicine can stop pregnancy by interfering with your normal menstrual cycle. It basically provides a threefold security against the possible risk of pregnancy. First, it gives your body a false sense of conception, which in turn stops an egg from being released and fertilised. Second, it thickens the cervical mucus and prevents sperm from reaching an egg. Third, Yasmin makes change in the lining of the womb to make implantation of a fertilised egg difficult.
